WEEK - 3 EASTER & WALES

WEEK - 3 - EASTER

For Easter Troy and Jean took off down to the Amalfi Coast leaving us with an empty house in London. It just so happened that Brett Elliot aka The Cunch arrived after 2 weeks in Egypt. So the Easter weekend was spent in a 48 splurge around pubs and clubs in London. From 1 pound beers at the Offside Bar with Barwon Heads boy Shorty and the rest of Country's cronies on Easter Saturday, we backed up by drinking his 1L duty free Jamieson on a lazy Sunday arvo. Needless to say Monday was a very slow day of rest and relaxation.

By Monday night however we were ready for a cultural night out so we donned the 'dressy' clothes out of the backpack (yes i did have a collar on!) and went out for a dinner and a show in the West End. We watched a show called "Blood Brothers" about twin brothers from Liverpool which was full of emotion and great singing. Chalk one up for the cultural side of London.

From here we decided to take a trip out to Cariff in Wales for our first experience staying in a hostel. We had 3 nights checking out Cariff Bay, Millenium Stadium and the local castle, but the highlight of the trip was cooking up a seafood feast from the local markets with 5 people we had met just 24 hours earlier. Fresh food straight from the boat washed down with some vino was just what we needed. At the hostel we met some unreal people who put at ease any fears we had of sleeping in hostels for 6 months! Pete (NZ twin of Tom in Maffra), Ryan (Perth), Alison (USA), Remme (Dutchy) and co. were awesome people who we hope to catch up with later in the trip. Would recommend Cardiff for any traveller and is a place where we will see again. So after a great time there it was time to jump back on the Megabus (no, not the Vengabus Trace!) and make our way back to London.............................

THE MOMENT OF THE WEEK -

TOOL OF THE WEEK

Our young Cassidy has finally taken out her first tool of the week after meeting up with Country at Zigfrieeds in Huxton Square she went to sit down on a stool and somehow managed to miss and fall head first through a curtain only to re-appear moments later with a dazed smile on her face. The perfect dive 10/10 Cass!

Week 1 - Singapore

Welcome to our week-by-week update of the No Rulz trip. We hope you get a taste of our goings on and can laugh, cry or even cringe at our antics.
Have fun reading and remember LIVE LIFE FOR THE MOMENT!

WEEK 1 - SINGAPORE

Singapore, Singapore....we love Singapore. Safe, clean and very humid. Apart from the massive sweat patches, we had a ball at our first stop on our 'No Rulz Trip'. Most of our highlights are around food and drinks - surprise, surprise! We found the alcohol quite expensive however we managed to find a number of deals including half price cocktails on the 70th Floor of the Swissotel!! The superb variety of Asian food was hard to resist from Chinese, Thai, Japanese to our fav Indian!! All this was followed by laying by the pool soaking up the 33 degree sunshine......especially since Melbourne was a balmy 17 degrees!!! London here we come.........

THE MOMENT OF THE WEEK -

This had to be eating out in Little India where we had a vegetarian smorgasboard of 6 curries, rice, dessert and lime juice for a grand total of 10 auzzie dollars for the 2 of us!

WEEK 2 - LONDON

Well we made it in one piece.... despite a bomb scare at Heathrow whilst we were still in the plane!

WEEK 2 has been filled with live soccer during daylight hours (not 2am on a sunday morning!) drinking while watching the football, sight seeing various museums and galleries, travelling up to 16 times a day on the infamous tube which is the best thing since Peter Daicos, catching up with people and visiting every free activity there is in London. It has been great and has definetly changed our views on this wonderful city. Perhaps we could live here happily after all!

Troy and Jean have been fantastic hosts and have made us feel like we belong here..... with special mention to the homeless guy who sleeps outside the window and keeps us awake with his continual coughing...... what a place!

Catching up with young Country this weekend aka Brett Elliot, who according to him is going to show us how to drink pints until you pass out..... should be fun.

THE MOMENT OF THE WEEK -

This prestigious award was almost going to go to the homeless guy who has entertained us, but the award this week goes to our first day here where we watched Liverpool win on a cold Sunday afternoon sitting in a typical London pub drinking pints. It doesn't get much sweeter!!

MOMENTS -
  • Troy's night tour along the River Thames
  • Tulips and Daffodills in full bloom in St. James Park
  • Viewing Van Gough, Michaelangelo and co. at the National Gallery
  • Walking through the Harrods food court (biggest & most expensive ice creams ever!)
  • Singing Land Downunder at the pub with the worlds worst cover band
  • Walking up to Highbury and viewing the old and the new stadiums followed by a pint at the local Arsenal pub in our beloved tracky dackies
  • Buying an official Australian World Cup shirt
  • 2 for 1 cocktails

TOOL OF THE WEEK -

"241 cocktails!!!!! I didn't know there was that many cocktails in the world!" Dazza after looking at a sign that read 241 cocktail every Thursday night!
