BIARRITZ - 10/7 to 16/7

BIARRITZ - 10/7 to 16/7
Ohhhhhh.......Biarritz........sweet Biarritz!!!! What more could one ask for? Sunny weather, massive waves, sandy beaches and hot as topless chicks everywhere........what a life!

We managed to find a lovely 2 star hotel for 60euro per night with our own room, our own bathroom and only metres from the main shopping /restaurant street and only 500 meters from the beach.

MOMENT OF THE WEEK
Bastille Day - the best day of the year according to the French! Having a traditional 3 course french meal (including patè, baguettè, fruits der mar, fish, pastrie, local le vin blanc) and then watching the awesome fireworks on the beach with all the locals - including the teenagers who took great delight in throwing their own fireworks at everyone (very Leeroy like)- it was a blast!!

MOMENTS

  • Attending Le Tour de France for the finish in Pau. Got heaps of freebies and saw all the big stars, including Robbie McEwen who asked Trace to move as he tried to enter the team bus.
  • Swimming and sunbaking on the golden sand beaches with 30 degree weather and 23 degree water.
  • The views when sunbaking!!! The French have won their title back for the hottest gals ever seen!
  • Eating heaps of fresh fruit and vegetables. We have started a detox. To help not only the waist line but also the liver....... so settle down all worried relations!
  • Going to the local trots and trying to put on a bet in English. We were the only non French speakers there and they took great delight in trying to understand us! No winnings though
  • Watching another glorious sunset over the water whilst putting down a traditional Basque pizza and a bottle of 2 euro wine........ classy!!!!
  • For the first time in my life getting my Crackers like arms out in the ol´ beater. Walking around for the first time without sweaty pits in weeks....... priceless!

TOOL OF THE WEEK
This week it has to go to Dazza!!!! The great Aussie Surfer!!!
Dazza decides to hire a surf board and show the French what it´s all about on Bastille Day! There was a 6'3 surf board left - some people may say perfect - however it was totally waterlogged, with gripping on both sides "apparently". After hours of trying I think he caught a total of one or was it two waves and came out battered and bruised!
The question is? Was it the 3 metre waves, the water logged surf board or the Aussie surfing ability that was the problem!!
